Overview: How to Shop for RV Bedding

When selecting bedding for your RV, keep the following in mind:

  • Select sheets made of durable and easy-to-clean materials like TENCEL™ and Supima cotton.
  • Look for bedding designed to keep you cool, even in sweltering temps.
  • Never settle for RV sheets that you wouldn’t put on your bed at home. You deserve the softest and most luxurious sheets while traveling!

RV Bedding Options

There are a few different types of bedding that you can choose from when outfitting your RV. The most popular options are:

  • Comforters. Comforters are a popular option for RV bedding. They come in a variety of fabrics and a variety of thicknesses to suit any season.
  • Sleeping bags. Sleeping bags are a great option for RVs because they're versatile and easy to store. They come in a variety of materials, including synthetic and down fill, so you can choose the option that best suits your needs.
  • Waterproof mattress protectors. Mattress protectors are an important part of keeping your RV mattress in great shape. Not only do they help keep your mattress clean, they also protect it from wear and tear.
  • Memory foam toppers. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to upgrade the mattress your RV came with, invest in a high-quality memory foam mattress topper.
  • Pillows. No bed is complete without a pile of inviting and supportive pillows! Opt for a gel memory foam option, which is naturally cooling.
  • Sheets. If you don’t go the sleeping-bag route, a comfy sheet set is essential. You can find sheets that fit any size RV bed.

Things to Consider Before Choosing RV Bedding

Now that you know the different types of bedding available for RVs, how do you go about choosing the right option for your needs? Below are a few things to consider.

Climate and Season

The climate you'll be traveling in will play a significant role when you’re selecting your bedding. If you're traveling in a cold environment, choose something that will keep you warm, like a sleeping bag or down comforter. If you're traveling in a warmer climate, stay cool in your RV with breezy sheets.

Space

The amount of space you have in your RV is also important to consider. If you have limited storage space, sleeping bags are a good option because they can be compressed and stored away easily, making room for all your other road trip essentials. Comforters are the way to go if you have more space to work with—they take up more room, but they're also more comfortable.

Personal Preferences

Of course, your personal preferences will also come into play. If you like the secure feeling of being cocooned in a sleeping bag, that's what you should choose. If you prefer the comfort of luxury sheets and comforters, go for that option. The most important thing is to choose something that you'll be comfortable sleeping in.

Features to Look for in RV Bedding

As you prepare to don your RV, camper or trailer with new bedding for the busy travel season ahead, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Opt for RV sheets and bedding made with durable and easy-to-clean materials.
  • If you’ll be in a warm environment, look for bedding made with cooling materials (like TENCEL™, bamboo or 100% cotton).
  • Never settle for RV sheets that you wouldn’t put on your bed at home. You deserve the softest and most luxurious sheets while traveling.

Also, make sure to measure the dimensions of your mattress. RV mattresses are usually smaller than the one you have at home. The most popular RV mattress size is a short queen, which is 6 inches shorter than a standard queen.

Can You Use Regular Bedding in an RV or Camper?

Absolutely! Feel free to use whichever bedding you prefer in your camper or RV. As we mentioned above, however, RV mattresses are slightly shorter than traditional beds. If you end up with excess fabric, simply tuck it under the mattress. Our Supima cotton GhostSheets feature our signature 2-inch GhostGrip elastic around the edges, which will help keep the fitted sheet in place.
